LOS ANGELES, CA, May 10, 2010 - (mt) Media Temple, Inc., a global provider of virtualized, managed hosting, announces the public release of (ve) Server, a new on-demand, utility VPS system. Servers can now be activated starting at around $1 per day.
“VE” stands for Virtual Environment, a term to describe a virtualization method that is lightweight and highly efficient. Offering near-native speeds, (ve) Servers are installed on premium hardware and use uncommonly fast storage. Priced around $1 per day, the new product delivers a tremendous amount of compute-value-per-dollar.
“After experiencing tremendous success with the (dv) Dedicated-Virtual Server, Media Temple has now become one of the largest virtualization deployments in North America. The company's base product offerings are serving existing customers well; however, the (ve) Server was needed to help a new breed of advanced users who rely on the more technical aspects of Linux and Open Source technology,” said Matt Jones, Product Manager.
“(ve) Server is offered under Media Temple's newly created, advanced product series named ‘ProDev’. Users in this category essentially get to spend less and get more out of their hosted services,” continued Jones.
Using Parallels Virtuozzo 4 OS virtualization, high-end HP server hardware, RAID-10 storage on SAS disks, and premium network providers, (ve) Server fills a gap in the utility VPS market and serves to be a simple alternative to the common Xen-based cloud provider.
“Media Temple wanted to run virtualization software that was highly efficient in order to realize the product vision for (ve) Server.
